The straight story ( Una storia vera ) di David Lynch
Quel genio portentoso, quel vero genio di David Lynch ha colpito ancora. Si, David Lynch genio del cinema e grande conoscitore dell'animo umano Maestro di quei grandi spazi terrestri che riesce a proporci sotto luci diverse e da angolazioni mai viste prima, così come riesce a farci esplorare gli angoli più reconditi dell'animo e della mente umana,riuscendo a farceli apprezzare più di prima e grande amico per il diverso in ogni sua forma, ha colpito ancora. Dopo qualche fiasco cinematografico, Lynch ritorna alla grande con questo film che è un misto di poesia con alcuni riferimenti all' On the road di Jack Kerouc il tutto girato in quegli scenari a tutto spazio dell'Iowa e Wisconsin Piccolo assaggio del nuovo film : Alvin Straight aveva settantatré anni, vedeva poco, deambulava con l'ausilio di due bastoni allorquando prese la decisione, nel 1994, di percorrere oltre cinquecento miglia su un vetusto tosaerba a motore per recarsi in visita dal fratello Lyle, colpito da infarto: i due non si parlavano da più di dieci anni. Alvin viaggiò per sei settimane, da Laurens nello Iowa a Mt.Zion nel Wisconsin, trascinandosi dietro un rimorchio carico di fusti di carburante e wurstel, accampandosi per la notte in prossimità dei cimiteri, nei boschi, presso i garage di gente del luogo: solo per rivedere il congiunto lontano, "sedere con lui e guardare le stelle, come facevamo tanto tempo fa". Su questa vicenda dal sapore antico, riportata dal New York Times, Mary Sweeney ha avuto l'idea di scrivere una sceneggiatura e proporre al proprio compagno David Lynch di tradurla in immagini: ne è nato un film, "The straight story" tra i più belli nella carriera di questo cineasta geniale e discontinuo, analista impietoso dell'anima nera degli States fattosi qui cantore commosso dei suoi lati più edificanti. Non si equivochi, però; in un film esposto ai ricatti della commozione, dove l'esazione della lacrima facile pare essere evento pressoché inevitabile, Lynch è bravissimo nell'evitare ogni sottolineatura eccessiva, ogni annotazione di troppo: il suo Alvin (magistrale l'interpretazione di Richard Farnsworth, ma anche Sissy Spacek ed Harry Dean Stanton sono strepitosi) incarna il mito, connaturale alla cultura americana da Whitman a Kerouac, della strada. Se è ormai impossibile per il viaggiatore, causa gli acciacchi e l'età, il "running on empty" cui esortava Jackson Browne nell'omonima canzone, si può però ancora faticosamente procedere: tra il bagliore accecante dei campi di mais, i prati verdi intorno alle case di provincia, il fuoco d'un bivacco ed il movimento lento delle nuvole. Per tornare infine a sedersi, come una volta, sotto il portico d'una baracca con Lyle: scambiare uno sguardo, levare gli occhi e lasciarsi inghiottire dall'infinità del cielo stellato. Non c'è altro da aggiungere se non andare subito a vederlo e lasciarsi prendere delle emozioni e perchè no anche piangere... Un "Bravò" di tutto merito a David Lynch ed un grazie al maestro Badalamenti come sempre molto coinvolgente con il suo commento musicale. P.s. per gli amanti del David Lynch regista televiso: Partirà tra poco sui teleschermi americani : "Mulholland Drive", episodio pilota di una futura serie televisiva, scritto e diretto dal regista di "Twin Peaks" per la Abc : Storia di due donne di Los Angeles conivolte in un oscuro mistero. Chissà quando e se lo vedremo in Italia, comunque non è esclusa qualche immagine o piccolo trailer al ppp sul nostro sito preferito... Lynch is back!! Yes, this genius is back again on the scenes, after some flops. David Lynch is one of the most important director of the the 90ies He has been able to write the cinema observed by another side. He has been always so close to the diversity of the human kind enabling anyone of us to love the diversity and to allow us to see inside our own soul and mind and to get out from the dark our fears and try to live together with them David Lynch offers an uncharacteristically straightforward approach to his material in this film, based on a true story,ans screenwritten by Ms Mary Sweeny (David Lynch lover) about an elderly man's lawn mower journey to reconcile with his brother. Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth) is an ailing widower in his early 70's who lives in Laurens, Iowa with his daughter, Rose (Sissy Spacek), who has a speech defect. Alvin doesn't trust doctors, despite suffering from emphysema and a bad hip. Alvin learns that his brother Lyle has suffered a stroke and may not have long to live. Alvin and Lyle haven't spoken in 10 years, which Alvin says is mainly a matter of pride and alcohol; Alvin wants to clear his slate with his brother before it's too late. 
However, Lyle lives in Wisconsin, and Alvin has little money, no car, and no driver's license. He does, however, have a riding lawn mower, and so Alvin hops on board and heads northeast to Wisconsin, hoping to make it while there's still time. Along the way, Alvin makes new friends and refuses to give up on his journey, despite mechanical breakdowns. So at the end, it's better to move up your ass and run to see this movie 'cause it's really interesting and not to be lost. Just a suggest : Please let yourself to be caught by the emotions and why not cry if You feel to cry and don't be ashmed.....
